Addressing the opening ceremony, HWU President Le Kim Anh said that Ao Dai has been considered as a cultural symbol associated with the image of Vietnamese women.
As time goes by, the dress has seen significant changes but its traditional traits have still been preserved, contributing to enhancing the charming beauty of Vietnamese women, she added.
According to Anh, the festival was one of the Ao Dai-related activities taking place nationwide, under the instruction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam Women’s Union Central Committee.
The event featured more than 500 women and girls in Ao Dai joining a parade in the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake, honoring the beauty of the most elegant and graceful dress of Vietnamese women.
The festival is part of efforts to seek the national intangible cultural heritage status and even a global title for the traditional dress.
