Hanoi Party chief seeks support from architectures for urban development (21:45 27/10/2020)

HNP - Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue held a meeting with the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUPDA) and the VUPDA - Hanoi  on October 24 to look for solutions for further urban development in the city.

At the meeting, the Hanoi Party chief said Hanoi is Vietnam’s political and administrative hub, as well as a major center of culture, science, education, economy and international trading, however, the planning and urban development process has not brought results as expected.

Hue added the urbanization rate in Hanoi is around 50%, while the rate in some districts remains low, including Thuong Tin district at 2.86%. Additionally, the coverage of master plan and zoning plan is only 86%.

To address these issues, Hanoi’s 17th Party Congress targets to further focus on urban development in close relation with urban economy, putting city development as one of major driving factors for economic growth.

Hue requested the VUPDA and VUPDA - Hanoi to actively contribute to the city’s planning efforts.

VUPDA’s Chairman Tran Ngoc Chinh said the association pays strong attention to Hanoi’s urban development, and  is committed to supporting Hanoi’s efforts in realizing the resolution of Hanoi’s 17th Party Congress towards a green, modern and civilized Hanoi.

As the 5th Party Congress of the VUPDA is set to take place in Hanoi late October, Chinh said one of the Party Congress’s top agenda is to play a more active role in the urban development process of Hanoi.
