At the meeting, General Director of Hanoi Urban Environment Company (URENCO) said the plant processes nearly 5,000 tons of garbage, or 77% of total waste dumped daily in the city, which is also exceeds the current treatment capacity of nearly 50%.
Regarding the implementation progress of Nam Son waste treatment plant - phase 2, representative of the Project Management Unit of projects in water provision, discharge and environment in Hanoi said the heavy rain over the past few days hindered the construction process. Moreover, the site clearance process has not been completed and handed over to the constructor.
Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung said Hanoi gives utmost priority to environmental issue, which requires strong efforts from the constructors to ensure the completion of the project as scheduled.
In the coming time, Hung requested related local agencies and units to ensure the Nam Son waste treatment plant to receive the required amount of waste at 5.000 tons per day, expecting the phase two of the project to complete by 2021.
The Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee expected Soc Son district to ensure public order in the locality and encourage the people to comply with the instruction of the city.
Additionally, the construction site should be handed over to the constructors in a timely manner, stated Hung.
Hung requested constructors to speed up the construction process, while ensuring labor safety and quality of the project.
