HNP - Hanoi People’s Committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference on October 23 to take stock of a program on jointly developing supply chains of agro-forestry-fishery products for the 2015-2020 period.

Standing Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyyen Van Suu speaks at the conference.

The event saw the attendance of Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam has so far recorded a total of 1,630 supply chains of safe agricultural products. Of these, Hanoi has developed  141 chains (or 8.8% of the total). Some 786 safe food supply chains have been created between Hanoi and 21 other localities this year.

Some localities have seen a rapid increase in the number of chains, such as Hanoi, Son La, Ha Nam, among others. Especially, the number of supply chains in Hanoi has grown from 29 in 2015 to 141 in 2020 (up 486%).

The report also showed shortcomings and weaknesses in building and expanding supply chains of safe vegetables and meat for Hanoi, such as difficulties in production, consumption, market trend forecasting, market information and food traceability.

Highly speaking of the achievements over the past time, Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu underscored the importance of providing safe farm produce to more than 10 million residents of Hanoi.

In an effort to create more supply chains of safe vegetables and meat in the time ahead, the city official suggested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development should help provinces and cities carry out programs on applying new and high technologies in agricultural production, and building link chains in production, processing and trade of high-quality agro-forestry-fishery products.

He urged members of the Coordination Committee of Safe Meat and Vegetable Supply Chain for Hanoi City to strengthen cooperation and share experience in the State management of food quality and safety, as well as making policies to encourage agricultural development, and develop supply chains.
