Politburo works with Hanoi’s Party Standing Board (21:01 21/09/2020)

HNP - The Political Bureau held a working session with Hanoi’s Party Standing Board on September 19, regarding preparations for the upcoming municipal Party congress (term 2020 - 2025).

The event was chaired by Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong. Politburo members, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, along with leaders of the Central’s agencies, were also in attendance.
At the meeting, the Political Bureau agreed with the municipal Party Standing Board on its thorough preparations for the upcoming congress in line with Directive 35-CT/TW and other guiding documents.
The Politburo highly appreciated the city’s draft political report which has followed 14 missions and groups of solutions, comprehensively evaluated the achievements cross all spheres,  pointed out seven weaknesses and five lessons, and set up orientations and goals for the next five years, 2020-2025.
The Politburo praised the Party organization, authorities and people of Hanoi for their efforts in realizing the Party’s guidelines in creative manner.
The city fulfilled or surpassed all 16 targets stated in resolutions of the 16th congress, the Politburo said.
Particularly, for the period of 2016 - 2020, tax collection for State budget in Hanoi hit nearly VND1,200 trillion, 1.64 higher than that of the 2011-2015 period. During the period, the city lured US$25 billion in foreign direct investment (FID), 3.9 times higher than that of the five-year period from 2011 to 2015. It also contributed over 16% to national GDP and 18.5% to the State budget. 
Hanoi achieved the success in new-style rural area building. The city aims to have ten districts and 371 communes recognized as new-style rural status by the end of 2020, completing the task two years ahead of the schedule. 
Besides, the municipal Party Committee has taken the lead in implementing the PCC’s resolution on the Party building in association with studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and style.
For the next five years, Hanoi should revise socio-economic targets depending on the practical situation, especially taking into account the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Politburo suggested.
It urged the city Hanoi to gear towards regional and international development standards.
Speaking at the session, Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong highly spoke of the city’s preparations for the upcoming Party congress.
He wanted the Party organization, government and people of Hanoi to be well aware of special important position, role and responsibility of the capital city.
General Secretary Trong underscored the necessity to arouse citizens’ spirit of pride, love and responsibility for Hanoi, the millennial capital city.
The capital city needs to take the lead in all spheres, he emphasized, asking for new changes in the upcoming congress. 
Due attention should be paid to cultural development, urban management, political security and social order, along with economic development, Trong demanded.
He stressed that as Hanoi is the location of diplomatic missions, international organizations and central agencies, it must be a civilized city and do external work better.
The Party chief ordered the capital city to expand relations with capitals of countries while optimizing the support from central agencies and sectors and other localities for its development.
He also told the municipal Party Standing Committee to collect all opinions of the Politburo to complete draft documents and well prepare for the city’s 17th Party congress.
