According to Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) Vu The Binh, the VITA made a decision on the organization of VITM Hanoi 2020 as the COVID-19 has basically been put under control in Vietnam.
Since the country has gone through 14 straight days without any coronavirus infections in the community, as of September 17, the Government has allowed the organization of mass gathering events, providing that COVID-19 prevention and control measures are implemented so as to ensure the safety for participants.
VITM 2020 was initially rescheduled from April 1-4 to May 14-17 and then to August 12-15 due to the pandemic.
VITM Hanoi 2019 featured more than 500 booths by 720 businesses from both at home and abroad, attracting more than 90,000 visitors. Of those, about 29,300 booked tours at the even, helping the participating enterprises earn around VND322.3 billion (US$13.8 million).
