HNP - Hanoi Steering Committee on Program No. 02-CTr/TU on developing agriculture, building new style rural areas, and improving living standards of farmers in the city held a conference on September 11 to review its performance in the third quarter and deploy key tasks for the remaining months of 2020, under the chair of its head Ngo Thi Thanh Hang.

At the conference.

According to a report, since the beginning of the year, two communes have met all criteria for new style rural areas, and two others recognized as advanced new-style rural areas.
Hanoi has so far had 355 out of 382 communes (or 92.9%) recognized as new-style rural areas, with 13 others meeting the advanced criteria. Among the remaining 27 communes, 24 have fulfilled between 15 and 18 criteria, and three others met from 11 to 14 criteria.
Six rural districts have achieved new-style rural area status to date, which are Dan Phuong, Dong Anh, Thanh Tri, Hoai Duc, Quoc Oai and Gia Lam.
Son Tay Town has completed the new style rural area dossier for submitting to the Prime Minister for recognition. Meanwhile, districts of Thach That and Thuong Tin are also expected to finish the work this year.
At the conference, the delegates focused on discussing three major contents relating to sustainable agriculture and rural development, improvement of farmers’ living standard, building of model new-style rural areas, and treatment of wastewater and livestock waste in rural districts.
Making conclusion at the conference, Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, who is the Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, highly appreciated the effort of levels, sectors and scientists in realizing the program over the past six months.
According to Hang, the municipal Party Committee has still regarded the implementation of the program as a key mission in the next term.
Hanoi aims to have all rural communes meeting the criteria for new-style rural areas, with 40% of the total recognized as advanced new-style rural areas, 20% exemplary new-style rural communes and five urban districts by 2025.
Underlining that building new-style rural areas is a long-term task without a final goal, Hang urged all levels and sectors to continue carrying out the program in effective manner.
Along with new style rural area building, Hanoi strives to rate about 1,000 One Commune - One Product (OCOP) products by the end of this year, she emphasized.
The Party official assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to keep an eye on the harvest season, take measures to prevent diseases in animals and crops, and expand supply chains of safe agricultural products, among others.
