Among the infections, 11 are local infections, and the rest are imported and were put on quarantine upon arrival.
On September 9, a 25-year-old girl from Thach That, Hanoi  tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 after arriving in France. A total of 15 people exposing to the girl have been traced and tested for the virus, and all showed negative result. They are now put under quarantine for health monitoring as regulated.
From September 8-11, Hanoi’s Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) conducted coronavirus tests for a total of 1,284 incoming people, those with symptoms such as cough and fevers, and those returning the city from pandemic-hit regions. All obtained negative results.
According to Nguyen Thi Mai Huong Deputy Director of the Depart of Information and Communications, the press delivers around 200 pieces of news related to COVID-19 in Hanoi per day.
The city’s media outlets have focused on disseminating the city’s instructions on COVID-19 response, and encouraging local residents to follow the message “Masking up-Disinfecting-Keeping Distance-Avoiding crowded place-making health declaration”, she added.
Huong said that the public is interested in Hanoi’s anti-pandemic measures when the PM allows the resumption of commercial flights or loosing epidemic prevention rules.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc highly spoke of the city’s COVID-19 prevention work.
She praised the municipal Steering Committee for its effort in carrying out anti-pandemic measures while boosting socio-economic development.
According to Ngoc, despite challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic, Hanoi has still achieved positive economic growth. Tax collection for state budget revenue in the city has met 60% of the expected volume. Many activities marking the country’s great events have been held successfully.
Warning of the risk of the novel coronavirus outbreak, Ngoc asked for specific measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
She urged related agencies to prepare for relaxing the operating conditions of services involving large number of people, helping the city to pursue the Government’s dual goal of combating the pandemic and boosting economic development.
Meanwhile, district/township authorities are requested to inspect the compliance of disease prevention and control regulations in schools, and take appropriate measures to increase local revenue.
Making conclusion at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy lauded local authorities for their efforts in  fighting against COVID-19.
Noting that Hanoi is still at risk of community infection, Quy, who is the head of the city’s Steering Committee, suggested that the whole city should remain on high alert.
According to him, a large number of Vietnamese citizens would return home from abroad, and Vietnam would resume commercial fights to some countries in the time ahead. Therefore, the municipal authorities need to prepare for preventing the transmission of the disease from overseas into Vietnam, he noted.
Quy also underscored the necessity to strengthen communication work and encourage the locals to abide by pandemic prevention regulations, take initiative in handling coronavirus outbreaks, provide tests for suspected cases, enhance inspection of pandemic prevention work in businesses with catering services, and prepare quarantine facilities, among others.
