HNP - Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy, deputy head of Hanoi’s Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control chaired a meeting with leaders of districts and communes in Hanoi  on August 12, regarding the Covid-19 fight.

At the meeting, Vice Director of Hanoi’s Department of Health Hoang Duc Hanh said Vietnam has recorded 406 new Covid-19 cases in the community and 17 deaths as of August 12.
In Hanoi, among eight local coronavirus infections, some have interacted with many people, such as patients No.447, 724, 751. On August 11, the city identified a new Covid-19 case from Hai Duong at Thanh Nhan Hospital, but could not trace back the source of the infection.
Moreover, around 50% of the cases were asymptomatic, posing high risks for the community, stated Hanh.
From August 8, Hanoi has conducted PCR tests foraround 75,000 people returning from Danang from July 15 – 29.
Vice Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Hanoi Nguyen Sy Truong said the agency continues to encourage people joining the Covid-19 fight and staying calm.
On August 11, Vietnam Fatherland Front Hanoi and the municipal Department of Health received 50,000 test kits, 27,000 face masks and 1,000 hand sanitizers from donors.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy  noted some issues, including people not wearing face masks in the public, or only one seventh of the number of returnees from Dananghave been tested. Quy noted there have been untraceable contacts of Covid-19 cases and there are high risks that more cases would  emerged in the coming time without strong measures.
Quy expected local authorities to continue follow preventive measures from the government and stay alert during the process. Meanwhile, people are requested to go out only for essential purposes, avoiding mass gatherings of over 30 people in public places; keeping safe distance of at least 1 meter from another; declaring medical information as required; among others.
Additionally, the local authorities would continue to promote public participation in the Covid-19 fight, which Quy said is a key solution in responding to Covid-19.
