Hanoi suggests preparing hospitals specialized for Covid-19 (19:37 09/08/2020)


HNP - Amid the complicated progression of the Covid-19 pandemic, Hanoi’s Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control at a meeting on August 8 suggested building hospitals specialized for Covid-19. 



At the meeting, Director of the municipal Department of Health Nguyen Khac Hien said as of present, Hanoi has recorded 147 Covid-19 cases, including 121 from the 1st Covid-19 wave and 26 from July 25, of which five are local coronavirus infections and 21 from Equatorial Guinea. 
 
On August 8, Hanoi recorded another case linked with the outbreak in Danang, who is an executive of Nippon food company in Thang Long 2 industrial park at Hung Yen. 
 
At present, the patient is being isolated for treatment at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases No.2 in Dong Anh.
 
Before being admitted to the hospital, the patient had been in contact with 12 people in the company, of the 57 cases exposed to Covid-19 patient (F1), 48 are living in Hanoi and 7 in Hung Yen, 1 in Vinh Phuc, and 1 in Thanh Hoa, while 106 are in indirect contact (F2). 
 
Hien also informed another Covid-19 case being a male person in Ho Chi Minh City and entered Vietnam via Noi Bai Airport from the US on August 4. 
 
Hien added Hanoi has prepared 1,000 beds for treatment at six hospitals including Bac Thangh Long, Duc Giang, Thanh Nhan, Ha Dong, Dong Da, and Me Linh field hospital. For PCR testing, Hanoi currently has four RT-PCR testing machine with capacity of 1,000 samples per day; 11 hospitals in Hanoi is capable of testing RT-PCR with capacity of 2,484 samples per day. In total, Hanoi is capable of testing a maximum of 5,684 samples per day. 
 
Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said for the 10th grade entrance exam, there is one teacher who is suspected to be a coronavirus carrier, therefore the Steering Committee decided to change the location of the exam venue and all staffs working at this venue. 
 
Quy suggested all students returning from Danang would take the exam separately from others or take the tests in the second phase with those under F2 category. 
 
Quy requested the Ministry of Construction to consider organizing hospitals specialized in Covid-19 based on existing hospitals to avoid infection risks.
