Chung said so far, Hanoi has strictly followed the instruction of the government in preventing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chung referred to a statement from Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc that each citizen is a soldier and each family is a fortress.
Hanoi would continue to raise public’s awareness in adopting preventive measures and wearing face masks in public places.
At present, the city has identified 2 cases of Covid-19 infections. As of August 2, Hanoi recorded 83,937 people returning from Da Nang. The city currently has 80,000 Covid-19 quick tests, which have been allocated for localities and which have been used on 67,746 people.
So far, the result showed 11 cases being positive with Covid-19, but after having being checked by PCR, 10 cases showed negative results, and one pending.
Additionally, Hanoi has conducted PCR test for 491 cases, in which 465 showed negative result, and one being positive, which is patient No.447, while 25 others are waiting for result.
Hanoi also tested 127 cases with close contact to the two Covid-19 patients, and all have negative results.
Hanoi’s Department of Health is expected to closely monitor cases of people entering Hanoi. The city is having 992 people at quarantine zone and 496 others being monitored at home.
Regarding the 10th grade entrance exam, Chung said Hanoi has requested all localities to prepare for it, with strong emphasis on health of students and staffs.
According to Chung, Hanoi has restarted the Covid-19 preventive measures from grassroots to city-level, aiming to realize the dual target of both containing the pandemic and boosting economic growth.
“By August 12, if there are no Covid-19 cases in Hanoi, we can assume that the city is safe,” Chung stated.
