HNP - Politburo member, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired an online meeting between the Government’s permanent members and localities on COVID-19 prevention work on August 2.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc chairs the meeting.

The event drew the participation of Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai; President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man; and leaders of ministries and ministerial-level sectors.

From Hanoi, Politburo member, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue;  PCC member, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung; Chairwoman of the VFF’s municipal chapter Nguyen Lan Huong; Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Education and Communications Nguyen Van Phong; Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Nguyen Thi Tuyen; and Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Quy attended the event.

According to a report of the Health Ministry, as of 6:00 pm on August 1, within 10 days from July 24, Vietnam confirmed 144 cases of COVID-19 infection and three deaths related to the virus. On July 31, a total of 82 cases were detected, a single-day record of new cases, including 56 community-acquired cases.
The disease is suspected of having spread in Da Nang since early July. There are likely many different sources of transmission with many possible undetected cases in the community, making it hard for the city to track the sources of infection. Most of the community-acquired cases reported recently have been linked to hospitals in the central city.
According to statistics from the health ministry, around 1.4 million people nationwide visited Da Nang from July 1 to 29, of whom some 800,000 went to the city’s hospitals, including 46,000 who went for health check-ups and treatment.
Making conclusion at the meeting, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the Ministry of Health, ministries, ministerial-level sectors and localities for their efforts in the current COVID-19 fight.
He urged every household to be a fortress and every local resident to be a soldier to prevent the pandemic.
Requiring the public to stay on high alert in the combat, the PM called for the participation of the whole political system in the effort. Localities need to stay calm and take tough measures to the second wave of COVID-19, he stressed.
Especially, localities which have not yet implemented social distancing must ensure trade and production activities to prevent negative economic growth, the Government leader ordered, calling for resolve to protect people’s health.
In face of complicated progression of the COVID-19 pandemic and in a bid to quickly control the disease, Phuc asked all people to install the Bluezone application on their smart phones as a way to protect themselves from the virus.
He urged the Ministry of Information and Communication to work with the Ministry of Health and provincial People’s Committees to roll out the tasks as soon as possible.
Ministries of Health; National Defense; Public Security and provincial People’s Committees are required to continue strengthening control over people entering the country by air, land or sea routes, and strictly control entry along the southwestern border.
The PM assigned the Ministry of National Defense in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security to prosecute cases entering Vietnam illegally.
He asked the Ministry of Education and Training to make a detailed plan on the organization of the national high school graduation exam 2020.
Phuc also called on the people to stay calm and keep  placing their trust in anti-COVID-19 measures taken by the Government, the PM, the National Steering Committee and the Ministry of Health.
