According to a report presented by Director of Hanoi’s Department of Health Nguyen Khac Hien at the meeting, as of July 31, Vietnam has confirmed 509 COVID-19 infection cases in 36 provinces and cities nationwide. Of whom, 373 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals.
Especially, the country reported 45 new coronavirus cases linked to a recent outbreak in the central city of Da Nang on the same day.
Since the first community transmission case was reported in Da Nang on July 25, Vietnam has confirmed 93 community-acquired cases, after having gone 99 days straight without any COVID-19 community transmission.
As of 1:00 pm on July 31, Hanoi confirmed 123 COVID-19 infection cases, of whom, 121 have been cured and discharged from hospital. According to statistics from the municipal Health Department, as many as 53,768 people have visited Da Nang since July 8, and all of them have been sampled for coronavirus testing.
So far, the task force has conducted rapid tests for 18,459 returnees, and ten of them have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. However, eight have had negative RT-PCR test results, and the rest are awaiting results.
According to the representative of South Tu Liem District, the local authorities have conducted rapid coronavirus tests for 237 cases. All showed negative COVID-19 results.
The district has traced and tested 48 people, who have been in close contact with the 447th patient, known as F1 cases. As many as 201 others who have direct contact with F1 people, also known as F2 cases, have been quarantined at home.
The representative of Tay Ho District said that the locality has so far provided quick virus tests to more than 1,200 out of more than 2,000 cases, and all showed negative results.
Making conclusion at the meeting, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung praised relevant units for their efforts in strictly realizing instructions of the Central level and the municipal authorities on COVID-19 fight.
He asked the task force to quickly take samples for COVID-19 testing so as to soon identify coronavirus cases.
To date, the authorities have tested 115 F1 cases, of them, 113 have been negative and the rest are waiting for test results, the Chairman released.
Concerning some key tasks in the time ahead, Chung urged district-level authorities to continue localizing those returning from Da Nang.
All Da Nang and Quang Nam returnees or those with fever, cough or shortness of breath must be tested for the novel coronavirus, he ordered.
The city leader requested bars, karaoke clubs and sidewalk vendors to to be closed.
