Hanoi to prevent spreading of Covid-19 pandemic (22:07 28/07/2020)

HNP - Hanoi’s Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control held an online meeting with districts and wards to discuss anti-Covid-19 measures on July 27.

Director of Hanoi’s Department of Health Nguyen Khac Hien said as of July 27, Vietnam has 420 Covid-19 infection cases across 36 provinces/cities, 365 of which have  fully recovered and no deaths have been reported so far.

In the past week, Vietnam has recorded four local coronavirus infections, indicating the risk of Covid-19 resurgence in the coming time. In Hanoi, the Covid-19 pandemic is currently under control, as  103 consecutive days have passed without any local cases in the capital city.

As the Covid-19 pandemic remains complicated globally and in some localities, not to mention high mobility of the people in the summer between provinces/cities, there would be risk of transmission in Hanoi.

Therefore, the city would continue to strictly comply with the covid-19 prevention measures under the instruction of the government, the Ministry of Health and Hanoi People’s Committee.

Hanoi’s Police are cooperating with local authorities in monitoring people from abroad entering Hanoi; requesting local agencies to identify infected cases of entering the city and strictly punishing those violating the anti-pandemic measures during the pandemic.

All people entering Hanoi from abroad are subject to Covid-19 testing at least two times, compulsory quarantine and further monitoring for 14 days afterwards.

Those returning from Danang and other provinces/cities hit by the pandemic have to report to the local authorities and self-isolate at homes.

Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said Hanoi would do its utmost to prevent the spreading of Covid-19 in the city, estimating around 20,000 people returning to the capital city from Danang.

Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung requested local authorities to timely identify and prevent the Covid-19 resurgence.

Nevertheless, Chung urged the people to remain calm, as the authorities are focusing on monitoring those are returning from Danang, Quang Nam and Hue.
