The event drew the participation of Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, President of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; and PCC members: Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee's Office Nguyen Dac Vinh, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Internal Affairs Tran Quoc Cuong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang.
Giving his opinion, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that Hanoi should focus on developing private sector to become a driving force of the city’s socio-development for the next tenure.
Hanoi needs to make more effort in urban infrastructure development in parallel with tightening the discipline in managing planning and urban construction and strictly punishing violation cases, he noted.
Thang asked for due attention to university relocation away from Hanoi's downtown and speed up the construction of five satellite cities as planed.
Highly speaking of the draft political report, Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee's Office Nguyen Dac Vinh said that Hanoi has affirmed its position as an economic locomotive.
However, the development of high-tech industry sector is not commensurate with the city's potential, he stated, noting that it is necessary for Hanoi to create breakthroughs for further development in the field.
He recommended that the city should preserve and retain the identities and peculiarities in the core urban area, in combination with the development of satellite urban centers to offload the inner city areas.
Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Internal Affairs Tran Quoc Cuong underscored the importance for Hanoi to reinforce the task force to ensure security and order.
Regarding anti-corruption, Cuong said that Hanoi needs to combat “petty corruption” and enhance the fight in non-state economic sector.
He urged the capital city to clearly demonstrate the leading role in the regional development.
Expressing his thanks to the delegates, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue said their comments would help the city complete its political report and map out development strategy.
According to Hue, the city’s Party congress is scheduled to take place at the end of October, 2020. Hanoi is striving to finish the consultation, finalize the drafting of the political documents and submit them to the Politburo.
