The event was chaired by member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung who is also head of the Municipal Steering Committee on prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemic.
Giving a report at the meeting, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health Hoang Duc Hanh said that as of 3 pm on February 23, a total of 78,755 cases of new coronavirus infection had been recorded worldwide.
The number of Covid-19 cases rise in some countries. For example, South Korea has reported a big jump in cases of coronavirus infection with 556 and four deaths as of 9 am on the same day. Meanwhile, Japan has confirmed 134 infected cases with two deaths. Singapore has also detected 89 infected cases.
So far, Hanoi has zero detected cases of Covid-19. 77 people suspected of catching the new coronavirus were confirmed negative with nCoV. Currently, 384 people have been isolated for health monitoring.
According to Hanh, the epidemic has been complicated. New cases of coronavirus have flared outside China, such as South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Iran, among others.
Vietnam has put the Covid-19 disease under control; however, it is still threatening to spread, the health official noted, asked for the city’s strict implementation of isolation measures in the community.
At the meeting, the localities’ leaders affirmed they have effectively implemented the Covid-19 prevention work. District/township People’s Committees has tightened surveillance on foreigners, especially those coming from China, South Korea, Japan and Singapore.
Making conclusion at the meeting, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee said the Covid-19 epidemic has remained complicated.
Chung stressed the city needs to monitor the evolution in epidemic-hit areas, while asking all departments and localities to take bold measures against the epidemic.
The city leaders also requested districts to disseminate on preventive measures among foreigners living and working in Hanoi, review returnees from infected areas and early recognition of suspected cases.
All schools must well prepare for the comeback of students in the city from kindergarten to university, he underlined.
Chung also assigned the Department of Health to update treatment regimens, prepare full medical equipment, and organize training courses to prevent the outbreak of Covid-19.
Chung affirmed the city has proactively responded to every situation.
