Hanoi to jointly organize celebration of 60th anniversary of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relationship (16:37 14/02/2020)
Lianys Torres Rivera highly appreciated Hanoi’s participation in the fight against acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
She said the Cuban embassy would coordinate with Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize a ceremony to mark 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba.
On the occasion, some Cuban famous bands will be invited to perform in Hanoi, she added, suggesting the implementation of a mosaic tilework mural on Yen Phu Street. The work is expected to inaugurate in the fourth quarter of 2020.
The diplomat wished to receive the support from the Hanoi authorities for the above-mentioned activities.
For his part, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung expressed his thanks for the Ambassador’s suggestion.
According to him, Hanoi has taken drastic actions to prevent the spread of the Covid-19. As of 7 am on February 13, no cases of Covid-19 infection had been detected in the capital city.

The Chairman affirmed Hanoi will be willing to support the embassy in organizing the upcoming Cuba Cultural Day at the Ly Thai To monument.
Stressing the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba which was nurtured by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro, and the subsequent generations of leaders of the two countries, the city leader said Hanoi’s authorities always welcome and support all activities which promote the bilateral ties.
He took the occasion to thank Cuba for inviting Vietnam to participate in the Havana International Book Fair 2020 as the honorary guest.
