Hanoi People’s Committee holds regular briefing on the city’s January performance (15:00 07/02/2020)
Giving a report on implementing socio-economic plan, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Manh Quyen said the city has drastically mapped out the main economic indicators since the beginning of the year.
State budget revenue reached over VND32 trillion (over US$1.3 billion), meeting 11.5% of the estimate, up 4.2% compared to the same period last year. Local budget spending fetched over VND6 trillion (over US$260 million), accounting for 5.9% of the estimate. Hanoi’s consumer price index (CPI) in January posted an inter-monthly surge of 1.07% and a year on year growth of 6.16%. Index of industrial production (IIP) saw a month-on-month decline of 24.9% and year-on-year decrease of 14.2%.
In January, Hanoi welcomed 2.38 million visitors, down 3.5% compared to the same period last year. During seven-day Tet holiday from January 23 - 31, the number of foreign visitors staying over reached 86,844, a decrease of 13% from the same period last year. Arrivals from China decreased 47%, with 13.975 visitors.
Besides, special attention has been paid to investment attraction, improvement of environmental environment and business development. The city attracted US$141.6 million of foreign direct investment (FDI) in January.
Furthermore, Hanoi has focused on urban management, development of technical facilities, socio-cultural development, social security and IT application.
In February, Hanoi will continue to realize Action Program No. 07/CTr-UBND dated January 9, 2020 of the Municipal People’s Committee, Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP of the Government, and Resolution of the Municipal People’s Council on socio-economic development and state budget estimate in 2020.
At the same time, the city will tighten discipline and administrative discipline after Tet, and effectively execute the working theme of 2020 which is “Promoting the strength of the political system to fulfill all goals and missions of the 2015-2020 tenure and successfully organize all-level Party assemblies”, among others.
Hanoi administration will keep an eye on management of budget, step up the construction of major projects, try its best to remove difficulties for local enterprises, draw up plans to respond to risks of shrinking import and export in the area, finish rice cultivation as planed, tightly monitor disease in animals and poultry, especially African swine fever.
Especially, the local authorities will pay special attention to the prevention and control of acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus (nCoV).
Particularly, the city will ask all levels and sectors to drastically take measures as well as comply with instruction of the Central level, the Ministry of Health and the Municipal People’s Committee on containing the spread of the nCoV.
Hanoi also will effectively carry out social welfare plans and program, keep absolute safety for political events and festivals in the city, and drastically handle social evils, gambling, theft, among others.
