The event saw the attendance of member of the Party Central Committee, Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; former Politburo member, former Minister of Defense General Phung Quang Thanh; member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, and leaders of the ministries and central sectors.
Among Hanoi’s leaders were Hoang Trung Hai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee; Ngo Thi Thang Hang, member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee; Nguyen Van Phong, Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education; Phung Thi Hong Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Council; Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee, and heads of the city’s entities.
At the temple, the delegates offered incense and flowers to commemorate two heroic queens Trung Trac and Trung Nhi.
The festival comprises several rituals such as incense offering, a parade and folk performances, attracting a large number of local residents and visitors.

On behalf of the Party organization, authorities and people of Hanoi, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy recalled the glorious victory of the Hai Ba Trung uprising 1980 years ago while stressing its great significance in Vietnamese history.
On the sixth day of the second lunar month in 40 AD, the Trung Sisters led a mass uprising against the Chinese Han invaders to reain national independence after more than 200 years of foreign rule.
The celebration aims to review the glorious tradition of Vietnam and pay tribute to ancestors and heroic martyrs who sacrificed for national independence, Quy underlined.
Addressing the event, Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh stated the celebration was held by Hanoi to commemorate the Trung sisters.

On the occasion, the Vice President acknowledged and praised Hanoi’s achievements cross all spheres while highlighting Me Linh’s contribution to the city’s overall development over the past years.
The State leader believed the city’s authorities and people would promote the tradition of the rebellion and make more effort to build a civilized and prosperous capital city.
The festival lasts until February 1 or the seventh day of Lunar New Year.
