The event drew the attendance of Nguyen The Hung, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee; Khuat Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung said that responding to the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly, over the past years, the Government and the National Traffic Safety Committee have launched the year of traffic safety and set forth concrete programs and action targets, striving to reduce the number of traffic accidents, deaths and injuries.
Promoting the achievements, the Government and the National Traffic Safety Committee continued launching the traffic safety year 2020 under the theme "Say no to drunk driving" in line with Law on Prevention and Control of Harmful Effects of Liquor and Beer adopted by the 14th National Assembly at its 7th session on June 14, 2019.

On behalf of the city leaders, Vice Chairman Nguyen The Hung acknowledged and praised the achievements of the Hanoi Police in ensuring social order and traffic safety during lunar New Year holiday.
Agreeing with key missions by the Municipal Police at the ceremony, Hung requested traffic police officers and relevant forces to effectively roll out traffic safety plans so as to ensure smooth traffic in the city.
Vice Chairman Nguyen The Hung also asked traffic police officers for drastically handling law violation cases, especially drunk driving.
Following the launching ceremony, the delegates paid Tet visit and encourage police officers on duty.
