Hanoi strengthens fight against crimes (12:36 07/12/2019)

HNP - At the question-and-answer (Q&A) session conducted by the Hanoi People’s Council (tenure 15) on December 5, the deputies voiced their concerns about maintaining social security, order and safety with the focus on combating crimes and law violations in the capital city.

The session drew the participation of member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang. 


At the session, 16 deputies questioned leaders of the Municipal Police, People's Procuracy, People's Court, Department of Culture and Sports and districts, focusing on ensuring social security and order, crime prevention and control.


Answering the deputies’ questions, Director of the Municipal Police Doan Duy Khuong said that the city’s 2019 socio-economic situation has been improving. Political security has been maintained, thereby ensuring absolute safety for important events held in the city.

Responding to queries on the prevention of child sexual abuse, Khuong said that the Police released Plan No. 82 to roll out the task. 
Regarding drug crimes, the director revealed Hanoi has had more than 12,800 drug addicts so far. 
The police force has taken drastic action to combat drug trafficking, he said, noting that the locals should join the effort. 
Furthermore, the Municipal Police asked district/township police forces to detect and handle establishments trafficking notorious drugs such as "funky ball", "shisha”. 
At the session, Directors of Departments of Culture and Sports; Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Head of the People's Procuracy; Chief Justice of the People's Court; and Chairpersons of district/township People’s Committees answered questions and offered solutions in the fight against crimes as well as maintain security and order in the city.
Making conclusion at the session, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc recognized efforts made by the city’s entities and relevant units in crime prevention and control.
Ngoc also called on all levels, sectors and people to join hands to ensure national security and defense.
