Hanoi, Fukuoka boost cooperation in multiple fields (09:08 23/10/2019)

HNP - Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha on October 21 hosted a delegation from Fukuoka prefecture of Japan led by Tosho Matsuo, acting Chairman of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly, Chairman of the Fukuoka-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance.

At the reception, Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha expressed her pleasure to welcome the delegation to Hanoi on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of friendly relations between Hanoi and Fukuoka. 
She highlighted positive contributions from Japanese partners, businesses and investors as well as Fukuoka prefecture to the city’s outstanding achievements during its development. 
Ha said Hanoi has always attached importance to cooperation with Japanese localities while expressing her delight at the outcomes of the Hanoi-Fukuoka cooperative relationship which both sides have been fostering. 
“Bilateral cooperation has been realized via many programs and projects in various fields. Notably, senior leaders of the two sides have regularly maintained exchanges that have contributed to increasing mutual trust and understanding, creating the solid foundation for further cooperation”, she said. 
According to the city official, Japan is the top country in terms of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Hanoi with US$10.4 billion and 1,115 projects.
At the same time, Japan is the largest official development assistance (ODA) provider of the capital city with US$2,981 million and 33 ODA-funded projects in fields of urban traffic, environment, clean water supply, making significant contributions to Hanoi’s GDP.
Speaking highly of the development of Japan’s agriculture thanks to the application of advanced science and technology, the Vice Chairwoman wants Fukuoka to help technology transfer to develop the high-quality agriculture model in Hanoi.
Besides, Hanoi wishes to continue coordinating with Fukuoka to organize culture andart exchanges, cuisine activities and investment, trade and tourism promotion in order to increase mutual understanding and promote cooperation for the two countries’ benefit, Ha said.

For his part, Tosho Matsuo affirmed that Hanoi and Fukuoka have jointly held a wide range of practical exchange activities in multiple fields, such as economics, environmental protection, culture and education, among others. 
Based on signed bilateral cooperation agreements, the two localities have gained positive achievements that have made significant contributions to fostering the Vietnam-Japan friendship, he added.
On the same day, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung hosted the Japanese guests, who are on a working visit to Hanoi from October 21-23.

Hung said that over the past years, Japanese Government and localities have worked with Vietnam and Hanoi to promote cooperation in various fields, contributing to boosting the growth of the two sides.
However, the outcomes have been still disproportional with potentials of bilateral ties, he noted, hoping that both sides would continue strengthening agricultural exchange and economic cooperation. 
Hung suggested Fukuoka to help Hanoi in education-training, environment, transport infrastructure, and promotion of Hanoi typical products in the Japanese market. 
He also wished the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly would act as a bridge to bring Japanese firms and investors to Hanoi.
Expressing his thanks to the city official for his warm welcome, acting Chairman of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly Tosho Matsuo said that Hanoi and Fukuoka have intensified exchange and cooperation in fields of economics, environmental protection, culture and education-training. 
He affirmed members of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly will continue to make contributions to strengthening friendship between the two localities and countries.
