Hanoi’s economy grows 7.35% in Jan-Sept period (09:54 17/10/2019)

According to a report presented by Standing Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu at the meeting, in the first nine months of the year, the capital city’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) picked up 7.35%, higher than the 7.01% growth recorded in the same period last year. 
Particularly, the service sector increased by 6.72%; construction - industry climbed by 8.84%; and forestry and fishery sector posted year on year increase of 0.7%. 
Total budget revenue hit over VND185 trillion (over US$8 billion), accounting for 70.3% of the estimate and up 14.3% year on year. Local budget expenditure was estimated at over VND46 trillion (roughly US$2 billion), accounting for 45.9% of the estimate. 
In the first nine months of 2019, Hanoi posted export turnover of US$12.4 billion, an inter-annual   increase of 20.4%. Total social investment was estimated to reach over VND245 trillion (nearly US$10.7 billion), up 12.9%. The city’s consumer price index (CPI) in the first nine months posted an increase of 3.74% against the same period last year. 
Especially, Hanoi has strengthened investment attraction and improved investment and business environment. In the Jan-Sept period, the city attracted over US$6.23 billion worth of foreign direct investment (FDI). 
A total of 20,562 enterprises were established in the first nine months of 2019 with registered capital of over VND263 trillion (US$11.36 billion), up 9% in the number and 28% in the capital year-on-year. 
Hanoi welcomed more than 21.5 million visitors in the first nine months, a year on year increase of 9.5%. Of the figure, the number of foreign arrivals visitors to Hanoi was estimated at over 4.7 million, an inter-annual  surge of 10.1%.
Besides, Hanoi has made positive changes in urban management and planning, housing development, traffic order and safety, administrative reform, socio-cultural development and social welfare, among others. 
Notably, the city has focused on building new style rural areas. So far, the city has six districts and 325 communes recognized as meeting all criteria for new style rural areas. Per capita income reached VND46.5 million (over US$2,000). The rate of poor households was reduced to 1.84%.
