The year of 2019 was the second year women’s unions at various levels implementing the project “Supporting Hanoi’s women to startup in the 2018 – 2025 period”, aiming to promote and raise awareness of Hanoi’s women over the policies and laws of the government and Hanoi in startup, economic development and realizing business ideas.
The move is aimed to materialize national objective of developing business community and national strategy of gender equality.
Under this context, various activities have been carried out, supporting over 400 women starting businesses; organizing meetings for women to exchange experience and promote trade domestically and abroad; introducing products; creating cooperatives and forming linkage supporting women doing businesses and distributing products.
Along with displaying and introducing products of traditional craft villages and women-led enterprises in 54 booths, the event also held other activities, including recruitment program, photo contest “the beauty of Hanoi’s women”, and the writing contest about family issues nowadays.
Through beautiful pictures about the women in daily lives, working, learning and social works, as well as a writing contest under the topic “for a family without violence”, these contests contributed to spread traditional values of a thousand-year-old Thang Long – Hanoi, along with the modern and elegant image of Hanoi’s people.
As part of the event, Hanoi Women’s Union honored 10 products and creative ideas of women. Through their hard works combined with modern technologies, and skills, they have created safe and environmentally friendly products with high economic values, such as paintings made from rice, lipstick from Gac fruit, organic rice, among others.
On the same day, Hanoi Women’s Union, along with the Hanoi’s Women Supporting Center and Yes Center Project Management Unit under ADRA Vietnam Project held a recruitment day to match employers and job seekers.
To prepare for this activity, organizers have connected with nearly 30 enterprises in various fields and having a wide range of demands in recruiting employees, ranging from basic to sophisticated skills requirements.
The event presents valuable opportunities for job seekers and employers looking for suitable candidates. At the same time, this showed strong involvement of Hanoi Women’s Union and schools, ADRA and non-governmental organizations in creating jobs and helping raise living standards of women, in turn contributing to the socio-economic development of Hanoi.
