The event drew the participation of former Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Cong Soai; Standing Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu; Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Van Phong; Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Nguyen Quang Huy.
Giving a report at the conference, Chairman of the district People’s Committee Do Huy Chien said that in carrying out the new style rural area building program, Quoc Oai has attained comprehensive achievements on different aspects. By the end of 2017, all communes have met new style rural criteria.
Particularly, 73.9% of schools have met national standards; 99 out of 101 have had cultural houses (accounting for 98%); 82% of households have access to clean water.
Besides, the district has upgraded more than 799 km of rural roads; and built 21 public lighting systems.
Up to now, annual per capita income of the district hits VND44 million (roughly US$1,900). The number of poor households has been reduced by 0.46%.
On September 13, 2019, the Prime Ministered signed Decision No. 1179/QD-TTg to recognize Quoc Oai as new style rural district in 2018.

Addressing the event, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu highly appreciated efforts of the Party organization, authorities and people of Quoc Oai District in effectively implementing the new style rural area building program over the past years with a series of breakthrough solutions and new models.
The outcomes will be a solid foundation for the district to continue promoting its internal strength, focusing on socio-economic development and successfully carrying out its political missions for the tenure of 2015-2020 and the following years, he affirmed.
Suu requested Quoc Oai to continue to strengthen the communication to raise the awareness of officials, Party members and people as well as create the consensus among them in building new style rural areas.
Along with maintaining and improving the quality of the criteria accomplishment, the district needs to promote production development associated with agricultural restructuring; and expand the application of science and technology advances to ensure sustainable and effective production, he underlined.

On the occasion, the district commended outstanding individuals who make significant contribution to the “Good people, Good deeds” movement in 2019.
