The event saw the attendance of former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi; Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Ho Quang Loi.
According to Le Tien Dung, General Director, Editor-in-chief of Hanoi Publishing House, following the first phase of the project conducted by Hanoi Publishing House to celebrate the millennium anniversary of Hanoi in 2010, the second phase has been launched since 2013 with various activities to systematizing all fields of the development of Thang Long - Hanoi during 1,000 years of history.
The publishing house has collected 9,000 foreign documents about Hanoi in English, French and Dutch.
More than 40 sets of books (74 books) with over 50,000 pages, covering a wide range of fields like geography, history, economics, culture, society, literature, arts and reference, were compiled and published.
In addition, 20 general book titles were published to serve readers of all ages.
Besides, more than 200,000 pages from the first phase of the project have been digitized to serve the research on Thang Long - Hanoi.
For the project to be successful, more than 300 collaborators who are leading professors at central and local levels and foreign scientists in various fields have participated in the work.
The bookcase is expected to help readers learn more about the history and culture of Hanoi, contributing to developing the capital city more modern, civilized and elegant.
