Bui Bang Doan’s 130th birth anniversary marked (16:40 17/09/2019)


HNP - The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly (NA), the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the capital city of Hanoi solemnly held a ceremony on September 16 at the Cultural Friendship Palace, Hanoi to observe the 130th birth anniversary of the late NA Standing Committee’s Chairman Bui Bang Doan (September 19, 1889-2019).

The event saw the attendance of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; former Party Secretary General Nong Duc Manh; former NA Chairmen Nguyen Van An and Nguyen Sinh Hung; Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man; Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, and former the Party and State leaders, senior revolutionaries, heroes of the People's Armed Forces. 
 
Among Hanoi leaders attending the event were Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee; Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Council; Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Municipal Fatherland Front Committee.
 
Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong sent a flower basket to the event.

Addressing the event, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan recalled Mr. Bui Bang Doan’s life and revolutionary career.
 
Accordingly, Mr. Bui Bang Doan was born on September 19, 1889 into a Confucian scholar family in Lien Bat Commune, Ung Hoa District, Ha Dong Province (now Hanoi).
 
In November 1945, President Ho Chi Minh sent a number of letters to  Bui Bang Doan, asking him to become the Government’s advisor.

Admiring the virtues of President Ho Chi Minh, Mr. Bui Bang Doan decided to return to politics and participate in the national revolutionary cause. With his talent, virtue and erudite knowledge, he was appointed Head of the Special Inspectorate which solved many important issues, contributing to consolidating the trust of people in the revolutionary government. 
 
In January, 1946, the first general election of the new Vietnam was held all over the country in which he was elected member of the NA Standing Committee at the first session.
 
At the second session, Mr. Bui Bang Doan was appointed Chairman of the NA Standing Committee. In his position, he made great contributions to the legislative activities of the National Assembly.
 
“During time in the office, Mr. Bui Bang Doan devoted his strength and talent to serving the homeland. In all positions that he occupied, Bui Bang Doan made effort to fulfill all assigned missions”, Ngan underlined. 
 
The NA Chairwoman affirmed that the celebration is an opportunity to express deep gratitude for Mr. Bui Bang Doan’s great contributions to Vietnam’s revolutionary cause.
 
He is a bright example for NA deputies, officials, Party members and people to follow, she stressed.
