Giving a report at the session, Director of the Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Nguyen Duy Anh briefed the Chairman on the hospital’s specialized activities.
At the meting, the hospital asked for authorization to build a new international standard surgeon building with 18-20 surgery rooms and 50 recovery beds at a cost of VND400 billion (US$17.2 million), he added.
Speaking at the session, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung recognized and lauded the hospital’s achievements in providing medical examination and treatment services with modern medical equipment systems.
He highlighted the solutions that the Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has taken so as to attract high qualification human resources while boosting cooperation with other provinces and cities in technology transfer and human resource training.
Agreeing with the director’s request, the city leader assigned the hospital to thoroughly research the building of a new international standard surgeon area.
He pledged that the city authority would support the hospital in purchasing the world's most advanced equipment.

Chung also underlined that in order for the hospital to be on the right track of development, it is important to apply the right international models and standards. The hospital needs to hire foreign consultancy for this job.
In terms of financial autonomy, the hospital need to proactively elaborate its spending regulations to guarantee doctors’ and health workers’ decent living standards as well as infrastructure development while enhancing the application of information technology (IT) for better medical examination and treatment, he stressed.
