Meeting with Viet Minh soldiers at Hoang Dieu citadel (08:06 13/09/2019)


HNP - The Party Committee, the People’s Council and the People’s Committee of Hanoi held a meeting with the Liaison Board of former the Viet Minh (Vietnam Independence League) soldiers at Hoang Dieu citadel on September 11.

The event was chaired by member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang. 
 
In attendance were Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Van Phong, Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha, and Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy.
 
Nine members representing the Viet Minh soldiers at Hoang Dieu citadel attended the meeting. They included General Nguyen Quyet, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee in 1945; Vu Oanh, former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), former Head of the PCC’s Mass Mobilization Commission, Head of the Hanoi delegation attending the National Congress at Tan Trao; Major General Dang Quan Thuy, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (tenure 9), among others.
 
At the meeting, Le Duc Van, Head of the Liaison Committee, briefed on the board’s activities in recent years.

Over the past time, the Liaison Board has received the city’s support. Especially, on the occasion of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), the city leaders always meet the Liaison Board members to express the gratitude to them. 
 
At the meeting, Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy, the Viet Minh member, proposed the conferment of the title of Hero for the National Salvation Youth Union of Hoang Dieu citadel. 
 
Meanwhile, the Liaison Committee suggested the city to honor five national contributors’ families. 
 
According to the Liaison Committee, the 1945 August Revolution  is a transcendental milestone in the national revolution. Thus, Hanoi needs to strengthen the communication and education to raise public awareness on the event’s significance.

Acknowledging participants’ opinions, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said that the city will ask  relevant departments and sectors in collaboration with experts and scientist to thoroughly research the way to name street August Revolution and Independence Monument. 
 
Addressing the event, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang expressed her deep gratitude to the Viet Minh members at Hoang Dieu citadel.
 
In spite of the old age, they have still paid special attention and made significant contributions to the cause of construction and development of the capital city.
 
“The Party organization, authorities and people of Hanoi always respect great contributions by previous generations to the cause of national dependence as well as innovation”, she affirmed. 
 
Briefing on the city’s outstanding achievements in recent period, the Permanent Deputy Secretary underlined that promoting the glorious tradition, the Party organization, authorities and people of Hanoi have tried their best to overcome all difficulties and challenges to build a prosperous city.
 
She wished the Viet Minh members at Hoang Dieu citadel good health and longevity while being a shining example for young generations.
 
Hang also acknowledged all recommendations of the Liaison Committee, and assigned specialized agencies to address them.
