Hanoi children enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival (22:13 10/09/2019)


HNP - The Hanoi People’s Committee held the 2019 Mid-Autumn Festival program for 1,000 children representing more than 1.8 million ones across the capital city on September 9 in North Tu Liem District.

The event drew the participation of Nguyen Duc Chung, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee; Phung Thi Hong Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Council; Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee, and heads of the city’s entities and North Tu Liem District. 
 
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said that the Mid-Autumn Festival, a long-standing traditional festival, is a practical activity to improve the role and responsibility of all levels, sectors and social organizations in caring for children. 
 
It is also a chance to teach children about national cultural identity, he added. 
 
According to the Vice Chairman, the Municipal People’s Committee has released a plan  requesting departments, sectors and district/township People’s Committee to organize a wide range of activities for children, especially those in difficult circumstances during the festival.

Besides, the city’s entities have positively carried out many mid-autumn festival activities, such as visiting and presenting gifts and scholarships to needy children, organizing music programs and folk games, among others.
 
On the occasion, Quy praised outstanding children who have tried their best to attain achievements in studying.

At the program, city leaders offered 1,000 gifts to children. Meanwhile, the Hanoi Children Support Fund in collaboration with donors presented needy infants bicycles and scholarships. North Tu Liem District also granted allowances to 15 underprivileged children.
