Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung speaks at the session

According to the Chairman, with the person-centered motto, the Municipal People’s Committee proposed five solutions to improve the quality of people’s living standards, including clean water supply.
In an effort to carry out the solutions, Hanoi has called on investors to pour money in 39 projects, including 11 projects on water works and 28 others on water grid as well as requesting them to increase the capacity of the existing water plants.
In addition, the city has also focused on thoroughly studying and using foreign water purifying technology. Currently, the Duong Noi Water Supply Station is applying German technology in water purification.
Chung said that the city is reviewing the implementation of the clean water supply projects to reduce water leaks and save costs.
Besides, Hanoi has created optimal conditions for the investors to roll out the projects as scheduled, and tried its best to remove difficulties for them so as to speed up the clean water supply to residents in the area.
The city will review and close 300,000 wells which have been contaminated with arsenic in rural areas, and offer preferential policies to deal with the issue.
Concluding the session, Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc acknowledged participants’ straightforward opinions as well as explanatory activities.
Underlining the targets difficult to fulfill, she urged the Municipal People’s Committee to take more measures and create the best conditions for enterprises to speed up the projects.
Meanwhile, rural districts need to strengthen the communication to raise people’s awareness on clean water use for their health, she noted.
