Rolling out tasks of the 2019-2020 school year (10:50 08/08/2019)

HNP - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on August 6 chaired a video conference to sum up the 2018-2019 school year, and roll out tasks of the one of 2019-2020.

In attendance were Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), ministries, sectors and 63 localities throughout the country.

Over the school year of 2018-2019, the sector of education and training has focused on completing mechanisms and policies to remove shortcomings and weaknesses in educational innovation activities while enhancing the implementation of the Government’s action program, and the Central’s Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW.

Thus, the sector has made positive changes in all education levels. Notably, the MoET has also issued the new general educational program so as to develop students’ qualifications and competencies.

Speaking at the teleconference, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said that the city has gained comprehensive achievements. Hanoi’s students continue taking the lead in national and international competitions with the total of 197 medals.

Highlighting the outstanding achievement in the previous school year, he lauded the successful organization of national high school entrance exam under the new way in an effort to comprehensively innovate education and training, as well as the implementation of the School Milk Project.

The Vice Chairman affirmed that to promote the achievements, the Municipal People’s Committee urged the Department of Education and Training to carry out nine key missions and five solution groups for in the 2019-2020 school year.

Making conclusions at the teleconference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc appreciated the sector’s outcomes in the previous school year.

However, he pointed out shortcomings and weaknesses in education and training.

The PM asked provinces and cities to review the network of schools, and create favorable conditions for students and learners.

He also requested the MoET to inspect universities, remove problems in university training, reshuffle the  teachers staff , among others.

Regarding moral education for students, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc underlined the role of families, schools and the society.

He asked ministries, sectors and localities to pay attention to the issue.
