11,199 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and commodities falsifications handled (22:48 29/07/2019)


HNP - The Hanoi Steering Committee 389 has recently released Report No. 241/BC-BCD389/TP on the outcomes of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the first half of 2019 and key missions in the remainder of the year in the city. 


In the first half of the year, specialized forces conducted 12,967 inspections, handled 11,199 wrongdoings and prosecuted 89 cases with 111 offenders. The total fine amounted to nearly VND3 trillion.
 
Over the first six months, the Municipal Steering Committee 389 has strengthened the communication and dissemination of legal documents to raise people awareness on combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods while tightening the cooperation with functional forces to reinforce the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and commodities falsifications in the area. 
 
Regarding key missions in the remaining months of the year, the Municipal Steering Committee requests departments, sectors, districts and functional forces to thoroughly analyze the situation and arising issues, identify their objective and subjective causes and offer drastic measures for settlement; improve the forces’ capacity to identify the offenders’ tricks; increasing the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and commodities falsifications.
 
Additionally, departments, sectors, districts and functional forces need to focus on inspections of commodities, such as firecrackers, foreign wine, cigarettes, cigars, electronics, refrigeration; petroleum, liquefied petroleum gas, and vital goods ; identify new commodities as well as tricks to timely combat illegal cases. 
 
Among the tasks stated in the report include strengthening the communication and dissemination of legal documents; honoring outstanding individuals having great contributions to the effort; strictly handling violations causing economic losses to consumers and legal businesses.
