Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Le Hong Son and representatives of the city’s entities were present at the conference.
Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quy Vuong reported that in the first half of the year, ministries, sectors and localities have paid attention to realizing resolutions, directives and plans on prevention and control of crime.
In the first six months of 2019, more than 21,000 criminal cases were uncovered and handled (accounting for 82.25%).
Meanwhile, law enforcement forces uncovered and dealth with over 10,500 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and commodities falsifications and fined a total amount of to more than VND1 trillion (US$43 million).
Making a statement at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Le Hong Son said that since 2015, the city has enhanced crime fighting, prevention and control of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
From June 19 to 30, 2019, as many of over 1,000 violation cases in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, functional foods, pharmaceuticals and traditional medicines were handled with the total fine of more than VND10 billion.
Basing on the achievements, Hanoi suggested several solutions in the time to come, such as disseminating and working out Resolution No. 41/NQ-CP on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit good in new situation; Directive No. 17/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit and poor-quality goods in the group of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food products functions, medicinal herbs and traditional medicine.
According to Vice Chairman Le Hong Son, the city will tighten the management, and enhance inspection in producing and trading cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, functional foods; deal with reports on manufacturing and trading of counterfeit goods and illegal goods.
Making conclusion at the event, Permanent Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh lauded efforts of the Government’s Steering Committee 138 and the National Steering Committee 389 in fulfilling their assigned missions in the first half of the year.
Beside the achievements, he also pointed out shortcomings and weaknesses which need to be removed.
In the time to come, Permanent Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh urged ministries, sectors and localities to effectively enforce provisions of laws, guiding documents of the Government on crime prevention and control, and focus on combating crimes; promote mass organizations in fighting crimes; timely detect cases of smuggling, trade fraud and fake commodities; handle officials and public employees who lack sense of responsibility or show signs of law breaking, among others.
