Sector of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs reviews its performance in H1 (16:43 13/07/2019)

According to a report by the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, over the first half of 2019, the sector has comprehensively rolled out its assigned tasks. Particularly, social welfare policies came into life, thus contributing to improving local people’s living standards. 
 
In the first half of the year, a total of over 95,000 laborers had found jobs, accounting for 61.8% of the plan. More than VND22 billion had been raised for the gratitude fund, accounting for 100% of the plan. More than 162,000 health insurance cards had been provided to policy beneficiaries. 
 
Additionally, the city gave financial support worth VND15 billion to build houses for 349 needy households, reaching 133% of the plan; presented 2,685 saving passbooks, accounting for 100 of the plan; and repaired and face lifted  66 memorial works with the total cost of over VND40 billion.
 
The city recorded 23,289 poor households, accounting for 1.16% of the total households. Notably, several districts have taken drastic measures to achieve the goal of no longer having poor households, namely, Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Cau Giay, Tay Ho and Thanh Xuan. 
 
In terms of vocational training, in the first half of 2019, a total of 50,270 people received job training, accounting for 24.5% of the plan, up 3.5% year on year. 15 out of 17 districts and towns in collaboration with vocational training establishments provided courses for 7,500 people, accounting for 38% of the plan. 
 
However, the report also pointed out shortcomings and weaknesses in fulfilling the tasks.
 
To fulfill the assigned missions, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will continue carrying out policies for revolutionary contributors; strengthening vocational training to meet demands of businesses; taking more measures for sustainable poverty reduction.
