Hanoi strives to combat counterfeit and smuggling goods in the last months of 2019 (16:44 13/07/2019)
In the first half of 2019, the city’s functional forces inspected a total of 12,976 cases, and prosecuted 89 cases with 111 defendants. The total fine amounted to nearly VND3 trillion.
Particularly, the Municipal Police detected and investigated 1,346 cases, handled 1,245 cases with the total fine of over VND16 billion, collected tax arrears worth nearly VND442 billion; seized commodities worth over VND53 billion.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi Market Management Sub-Department checked a total of 3,553 cases, handled 3,481 cases with the fine of nearly VND19 billion, seized and destroyed goods worth over VND21 billion. The Hanoi Customs Department handled 524 infractions worth over VND45 billion.
However, Hanoi has faced many challenges and difficulties in the fight against commercial fraud and counterfeit goods in the first half of the year.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Le Hong Son lauded efforts of member agencies of the Municipal Steering Committee 389, district/township Steering Committees 389 in combating commercial fraud and counterfeit goods.
Regarding key missions in the time to come, the Vice Chairman requested member agencies to focus on preventing and fighting African swine fever; strictly handle violation cases; and elaborate inspection plans on holidays.
He also urged the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize a cooperation conference among Northern provinces and cities to offer solutions to prevent commercial fraud and counterfeit goods in border gates and border areas.
