ASF virus found in 289 breeding households (16:43 13/07/2019)

HNP - The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on July 8 released Report No. 363/BC-SNN on the outcomes of prevention and control of African swine fever (ASF) in Hanoi.

According to the report, from July 5 to 7, the ASF virus had been detected in 289 breeding households and farms in 19 districts and towns. The total number of culled pigs amounted to 5,235. 
In this week (from July 1 to 7), 907 breeding households had reported the ASF virus, resulting in the culling of 16,910 pigs.
To date, the ASF disease had been found in 27,429 breeding households (accounting for 34% of the city’s total breeding households) in 24 urban and rural districts. The total number of culled pigs amounted to 477,523 (accounting for 25.5% of the city’s pig herd). In which, the number of culled sows was 62,642 (accounting for 13% of the city’s total number of culled pigs).
In preventing the disease from further spreading in the city, the Municipal Party Committee and People’s Committee has urged departments, sectors and localities to take more measures to isolate and handle outbreaks as regulated. 
The Municipal People’s Committee also instructed districts and towns to allocate funds for the disease prevention and control work. 
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development asked the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sub-Department in collaboration with districts and relevant units to launch mass environmental sanitation campaigns in the city. 
Additionally, the city’s specialized agencies has prepared enough materials and equipment to seve the fight against the disease; monitored the epidemic in each household, village and residential area to timely put the disease under control; updated information and preventive measures among breeders; among others.
