Over the first half of 2019, the Department has rolled out its major missions in all fields.
Particularly, the Department served as an advisor in enhancing the application and development of information technology (IT); instructed and urged the city’s entities to carry out the 2019 IT plan; gave a report to the Municipal People’s Committee on the outcomes of the five-year implementation of Resolution No. 36 of the Politburo on strengthening IT application and development to meet the requirement of sustainable development and international integration; disseminate on stage 3 and 4 online public services; and worked with domestic an international IT agencies and businesses to exchange solutions in building e-government and smart city.
Additionally, the Department positively took actions for telecommunications infrastructure development; reported to the Municipal People’s Committee the test run of the 5G mobile network in the city; collaborated with relevant units to bury electrical wires and telecommunication cables underground along streets approved by the Municipal People’s Committee; ensured information safety for the city authorities; summarized the work of natural disaster prevention, control, search and rescue in 2018 and rolled out key tasks in 2019; among others.
Also, the Department enhanced the management of information, press and publication while effectively launching a wide range of activities to promote reading culture.
The Department in collaboration with the Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee and relevant agencies successfully held important events which are “Spring Book Street 2019”, “National Press Festival 2019”, “Vietnam Book Day”, among others.
Besides, the Department tightened supervision of information on websites to combat fake information; enhanced inspection of the observance of laws in information and communication sector.
At the conference, participants discussed and shared their experiences in fulfilling missions, and suggested solutions to be carried out in the time to come.
Making conclusion at the conference, Director of the Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Ngoc Ky recognized and appreciated the sector’s achievements in the first half of this year.
Stressing several major tasks in the second half, he said that, along with submitting Hanoi E-Government Architecture Framework, Hanoi Smart City Plan to the Municipal People’s Committee, the Department would focus on working out Plan No. 39 of the Municipal People’s Committee on IT development in Hanoi.
He also urged the Department to enhance inspection of IT application, information safety in the city’s public bodies; act as an advisory agency in offering measures to improve the quality and efficiency of IT activities in the area; and promote the development of IT industry.
The Department will cooperate with the Authority of Radio Frequency, the Authority of Telecommunications, district/township People’s Committees and telecommunications enterprises to test 5G network in the city; effectively execute the passive telecommunications technical infrastructure planning in Hanoi by 2020, orientation to 2030; and elaborate a roadmap to deploy Ipv6 in the city’s agencies, the Director added.
He underlined the need to strengthen the communication on economic and political missions, timely fulfill unexpected and extraordinary tasks of information, press and the Internet; continue carrying out Scheme 5133; inspect the observance of laws in the field of information and communications, among others.
