According to  Nguyen Ngoc Son, Head of the Hanoi Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the ASF outbreak was first founded on February 24, 2019 in Long Bien District. As of April 21, 2019, the outbreaks were founded at 1,525 breeding farms in 22 districts. The total number of infected pigs culled was 21,307, equivalent to over 1,324 tons.

So far, no cases of African swine fever have been reported in Son Tay Town and Nam Tu Liem District.

Over the past time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has regularly coordinated with departments, sectors and local governments to enhance inspection and synchronously take measures for disease prevention and control while requesting the Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to closely monitor the disease situation and timely prevent the spread of African swine fever; and attend hotline 02433.800.115 to receive feedback on the epidemic and food safety.

Besides, the department has regularly provided full disease information and preventive measures; intensified exchanges with other provinces and cities throughout the countries about experiences on disease prevention, especially 24 northern provinces signing a commitment with Hanoi; and taken test samples in slaughtering houses and high risk areas.
