This year’s action month, themed “Say no to fake and substandard food to protect customers' rights”, aims to uphold the management role of all-level authorities as well as the sense of responsibility of producers, traders and consumers in ensuring food safety and hygiene.
As planned, a communication campaign on the action month will take place from now until May 15, 2019; the launching ceremony will be held from April 10 to 20; inspections will be conducted from April 15 to May 15, 2019 across the city.
In addition to regular activities held to guarantee food safety, the 2019 action month will launch a communication campaign on complying with regulations on safety in food production and business.
It is necessary to actively prevent food contamination, minimize poisoning cases and food-borne diseases caused by unsafe food; increase the responsibility of all-level People’s Committees for the food safety work; strengthen the cooperation among local governments, functional agencies and social - political organizations in ensuring food safety; and promote the sense of responsibility of producers, traders and consumers on the food safety work.
Currently, Hanoi has more than 66,000 food producing, processing and trading facilities. During this year’s month, the Steering Committee will establish four interdisciplinary inspection teams lead by heads of Departments of Health, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Hanoi Market Management Sub-Department.
For the 2019 action month to be successful, at the conference, the Nam Tu Liem District People’s Committee signed commitments to ensure food safety with ward People’s Committees and food enterprises in the locality.
