The event was co-chaired by Nguyen Duc Chung, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee; and Hans de Boer, President of the Confederation of Netherlands Industry.
Speaking at the seminar, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that since the diplomatic ties between the Netherlands and Vietnam were officially established on April 9, 1973, the relationship has developed fruitfully over the past 46 years.
The two Governments have paid special attention to enhancing the bilateral ties positively, extensively, effectively and comprehensively, he said, and adding that Hanoi has always considered the Netherlands as an important partner in the fields of environment, urban planning and infrastructure, building materials, education and training, investments and trade, and tourism, among others.
The Chairman also briefed the guest about the city’s achievements over the past time, and emphasized that the city’s authorities have tried their best to build a service-minded administration and continue being a companion to businesses.
Hanoi ranked the ninth among 63 provinces and cities in the country in the 2018 provincial competitiveness index (PCI), the first time that the city made to the top ten.
Besides, the local government has also made effort to create favorable investment and business environment, Chung added.

According to the Chairman, the Netherlands is one of the potential partners of Hanoi, with the total investment of over USD606 million along with capital contribution and purchase of shares worth more than USD100 million.
The city wants to boost the cooperation with the Netherlands in fields of wastewater and waste treatment, the city leader said.
He expressed his belief that the cooperation between Viet Nam, Hanoi and the Netherlands will grow further in future and the seminar will be an opportunity to intensify exchanges and cooperation for mutual development.
Expressing his thanks to the Hanoi leader for the warm welcome, President of the Confederation of Netherlands Industry Hans de Boer hoped that through the visit as well as this seminar, Dutch businesses will seek concrete ways to boost the cooperation with Hanoi, contributing to further deepening the relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands.
