The Department of Health issued Plan No. 1371/KH-SYT on April 2, on climate change adaptation activities for the period of 2019-2030 and vision to 2050.
Accordingly, the department will study more thoroughly the impacts of climate change so as to work out regimes for the treatment and the epidemiology of some infectious diseases; implement intervention models to minimize the impact of climate change on public health as well as management and treatment models for some diseases caused by climate change, and early-warning models to promptly handle diseases.
It is necessary to strengthen the prevention and control of infectious diseases; improve the nutritional status and increase the quality of health checkup and treatment; tighten waste management and treatment in medical facilities; and organize rehearsals to respond to natural disasters.
Among the tasks of the plan include elaborating communication programs on climate change adaptation in the health sector; organizing training courses to raise the awareness of officials and health workers on climate change adaptation; joining in environmental protection activities, among others.
In addition to the above tasks, the department will enhance inspections on climate change adaptation task execution of the municipal entities while reviewing outcomes of the execution of its climate change adaptation plans so as to outline measures for the following period.
