Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai works with Department of Science and Technology (21:52 28/03/2019)
In attendance were Phung Thi Hong Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Council; Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee, among others.
Giving a report at the session, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Le Ngoc Anh said that over the past year, the science and technology sector has had great contributions to all fields, affirming its important role as the driving force to promote the city’s socio-economic development.
Particularly, Hanoi takes the lead in working out scientific research tasks. Last year, the department appraised technology for 27 projects, gave feedback on technology in fields of clean water supply, wastewater collection and treatment, environmental monitoring and hi-tech agriculture, among others.
Besides, Director Le Ngoc Anh also pointed out some existing problems and weaknesses in implementing science and technology activities.
Making conclusion at the session, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai praised the sector’s remarkable achievements as well as great contributions to the city’s development, especially in economic growth, new-style rural area building, and smart city building.
Stressing key targets, including economic growth and restructuring which the city is striving to fulfill, the Secretary underlined the need to enhance the application of science and technology in the economy.
He asked the department to continue strengthening the Party building and the unity bloc, and promoting the creative power of each individual.
The department should bring into full play the role of the standing agency of the key scientific research program; renew itself to outline new goals and breakthroughs in the following period; and review mechanisms and policies to strengthen the development of science and technology, he noted.
Relating to the application of science and technology in reality, Secretary Hoang Trung Hai requested the Municipal People’s Council to enhance supervision to improve the quality of scientific and technological research while working together with departments and sectors, research institutes and universities in the city.
