Hanoi People’s Committee holds video conference on the balance of the first quarter of 2019 (11:04 27/03/2019)

HNP - Nguyen Duc Chung, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee on March 26 chaired a video conference citywide to review the performance of the Municipal People’s Committee in March and the first quarter of 2019.

Giving a report on the outcomes of the socio-economic development plan execution in the first quarter of the year, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Manh Quyen said that in the first three months, the economy maintained a growth rate equivalent to the same period last year. 
Particularly, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) was estimated to increase by 6.99% (compared to 6.98% in the same period last year); the total retail sales of goods and services rose by 10.3%; the number of tourists witnessed a rise of 10.6%; export turnover posted a 113% surge; transport revenue increased by 11%.
Over the past months, the investment environment has been improved; foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction has been strengthened. Hanoi has also taken various measures to improve Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) while focusing on removing difficulties for investors and enterprises. 
Total investment for development was estimated at over VND58 trillion (over USD2.6 billion), up 10.5% (compared to 9.5% in the same period last year). FDI attraction reached USD4.04 billion, 10 times higher year on year.
Total budget revenue was estimated at more than VND68 trillion (over USD3 billion), equivalent to 28.6% of the estimate, up 30.3%, compared to 12.3% in the same period last year. Local budget expenditure was estimated at nearly VND11.8 trillion (roughly USD534 thousand), equivalent to 11.6% of the estimate. 
Besides, Hanoi has also made greater gains in socio-cultural development, education, urban management and development, traffic safety and environmental sanitation. 
The city has paid special attention to strengthening communication, economic – political and cultural activities, especially during the North Korea–United States Hanoi Summit so as to promote the images of the capital city. 
To fulfill the set goals and targets of the socio-economic development, in the second quarter of the year, Hanoi will continue effectively working out 76 tasks and measures at Action Program No. 12/CTr-UBND of the Municipal People’s Committee on key missions, measures for socio-economic development and budget revenue in 2019. 
Furthermore, it is necessary to strictly implement “the year of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the political system” scheme; enhance the simplification of administrative procedures; remove existing problems in addressing administrative procedures to create favorable conditions for local residents, enterprises and organizations. 
Among the tasks of the city include effectively taking measures to strongly improve investment environment, trade and competitiveness; operating budget revenue and expenditure effectively; improving the efficiency and quality of the state management in fields of planning, land, construction order, urban order and environmental protection. 
Also Ha Noi will speed up clean water supply projects; grow more than 600 thousand trees in 2019; the city urges the soon execution of projects on waste water  and solid waste treatment in industrial parks; take measures to reduce dust pollution in the city; and complete the building of new-style rural areas as planned, among others.
