Ha Noi strengthens IT application in managing foreigners in the city (15:20 20/03/2019)


HNP - An inspection delegation of the National Assembly (NA) Committee for Foreign Affairs led by Nguyen Van Giau, member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Chairman of the NA Committee for Foreign Affairs, on March 19 had a working session with the Ha Noi People’s Committee on the management of foreigners in the capital city.

In attendance were Nguyen Duc Chung, PCC member, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee; Le Hong Son, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee; and Bui Huyen Mai, Deputy Head of the NA deputy delegation of Ha Noi.

 

Giving a report at the session, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Le Hong Son said that in 2018, the total number of foreigners who registered temporary residence was about 2 times higher than that of 2014,  70% of them are tourists. Total revenue from tourism was estimated at over VND 60 trillion (roughly USD 2.8 million).

So far, Ha Noi has attracted 4,375 projects worth USD33.8 billion; and nine industrial parks are operational, contributing to the cause of industrialization, modernization as well as the socio-economic development.

Furthermore, the Municipal People’s Committee requested functional agencies to strengthen the application of information technology (IT) in resolving administrative procedures relating to foreigners.

Besides, immigration management forces have cooperated with policemen of districts and towns to control foreigners’ temporary residence declaration in Ha Noi.

At the session, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung suggested to modify the Immigration law and create customized polices towards highly qualified foreigners such as researchers, technicians, scientists.


Making conclusion at the session, Nguyen Van Giau, Chairman of the NA Committee for Foreign Affairs, praise the city’s performance in managing foreigners.


However, he pointed out some existing problems which need to be addressed in the coming time.

He also urged Ha Noi to make effort to better implement tasks relating to foreigners in the city.
