Expressing his delight at welcoming Chairman of the Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia Kai Pontinen along with the high level delegation to Ha Noi from January 6th to 12th, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung lauded the visit in the context of celebrating the 45th year of diplomatic relations between Finland and Viet Nam (1973 - 2018) as well as the 10th years of friendship between Ha Noi and the southern Ostrobothnia region.
He stressed that the authority and people of Ha Noi always remember support and assistance given by the Finnish Government and people to Viet Nam during the struggle for independence and national development.
Briefing the guest about the city’s socio-economic development, the Ha Noi Chairman said that in 2018, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) posted an increase of 8.7%; total budget collection increased by between 16-18%. Especially, the number of tourists to the capital city was 26 million, including over 5.7 million foreign visitors.
In the coming time, Ha Noi will focus on three breakthroughs, namely, administrative reform, infrastructure development and development of human resources with high quality, he mentioned.
At the reception
At the reception, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung applauded the cooperation between Ha Noi and the southern Ostrobothnia region in fields of trade, education, vocational training, and cultural exchanges over the past ten years.
He expected the relations of the two sides will be enhanced in various fields of social welfare, investment promotion, trade, tourism, smart city, e-government, green technology and sustainable development where Finland and the South Ostrobothnia Region have strengths.
In reply, Chairman of the Regional Council of Southern Ostrobothnia Kai Pontinen highly appreciated the relation between the two sides over the past time and suggested the two sides should have more exchange delegations at all levels.
He also wished the cooperation to grow further in future.

• On the same day, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and Chairman of the Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia Kai Pontinen signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the cooperation between the Ha Noi People’s Committee and the Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia in fields of education and training, culture, sports, tourism, commerce, and services.
