Vice Chairman of the Municipal People Committee Nguyen The Hung and leaders of the city’s departments, sectors, agencies attended the conference at Ha Noi destination.
Making a statement at the video conference, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee said that the city has made greater gains in traffic order and safety. Especially the number of traffic accidents decreased by over 5% in three criteria.
Particularly, from December 16th, 2017 to September 15th, 2018, a total of 983 traffic accidents were reported citywide, killing 383 people and injuring 644 others. Thus, the number of traffic accidents was 5.9% lower than that of the same period last year while the number of deaths and injuries dropped by 7.5% and 22.8%, respectively.
Over the past years, Ha Noi has released six plans. Meanwhile, departments, sectors, agencies and localities granted 50 directive documents to drastically implement missions, solutions in an effort to reduce traffic congestion and accidents in the area.
Additionally, the Department of Transport in collaboration with local authorities has reviewed and properly adjusted traffic management to minimize traffic jams; enhanced public passenger transport services.
In the remaining months, Ha Noi will speed up the construction of key traffic works to reduce traffic congestion; make specific plans on managing traffic flows and public passenger transport services to meet people’s travel demands on great holidays.
Besides, Departments of Transport, Police will remove six black points with high risks of traffic accidents. People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts, towns will make plans on checking, handling violations.
At the conference, sectors and localities nationwide discussed causes and exchanged experiences and solutions so as to minimize traffic accidents.
Making conclusion at the conference, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Truong Hoa Binh lauded efforts of ministries, sectors, localities in taking various solutions for traffic safety assurance.
He noted that in addition to gained achievements, the traffic situation has been complicated, especially on great holidays.
Regarding major missions in the coming time, Permanent Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh requested ministries, sectors, and localities to focus on drastically taking measures to curb traffic accidents and avoid serious cases.
The National Traffic Safety Committee will launch communication campaigns and handle violation cases; implement Directive No.4 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the implementation of solutions so as to improve the effectiveness of regulations on wearing helmets for motorcycle riders; coordinate with sectors, localities to review the five-year implementation of traffic safety strategy.
Furthermore, ministries, sectors and localities will jointly handle violation cases; strengthen the popularization to raise people’s awareness on traffic safety; draw the participation of the entire political system in building traffic culture; enhance the popularization of legal documents; effectively handle black points of traffic accidents, etc.
