Ha Noi attracts over US$ 6.2 billion FDI capital in nine months (19:07 30/09/2018)

HNP – The Ha Noi People’s Committee organized an online conference on September 28th to review its performance in the third quarter and the first nine months of 2018. Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung presided over the event.

Giving a report at the conference, Director of the Department of Investment and Planning Nguyen Manh Quyen said that in the first nine months, the Capital’s economy posted a higher growth rate. GRDP was estimated to increase 7.17%, in which, services was up by 7.11%; industry – construction up by 7.81%; agro, forestry and fishery up by 3.37%; consumer price index (CPI) posted an average increase about 3.94-3.98%. 
Export turnover reached US$10.51 billion, representing a year on year surge of 21.6%, meanwhile, import turnover was estimated at US$22.49 billion, up 6.5% but lower than the same period last year (22.6%).
The tourism sector also grew remarkably, especially international visitors. In the first nine months of the year, the city welcome 19.7 million tourists, up 9.2%; total revenue from tourists was estimated at VND 57.3 trillion, up 7.3%. 
The building of new style rural areas has been strengthened. So far, Ha Noi has had four new style rural districts and 294 communes meeting new style rural criteria, accounting for 76.16%. It is expected that 30 communes and four districts recognized as new style rural areas in the end of 2018. 
FDI capital was estimated at over US$6.2 billion, 5.4 times higher than that last year. Total budget was estimated to reach VND 166.2 trillion, accounting for 69.7% of the estimate, representing a year on year increase of 13.7%. 
Besides, over the past nine months, Ha Noi has made greater gains of IT application, mass sports movements, social welfare, security – national defence, social order and safety. 
According to Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Khac Hien, Ha Noi recorded 555 dengue fever cases, 625 measles infections and 1,586 HFMD cases. 
He suggested the Municipal People’s Committee asks localities to positively ensure environmental sanitation to prevent diseases in districts while strengthening the food safety work. 
Regarding to poverty reduction policies, a representative of the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs said that the Department has made efforts to fulfill the assigned targets of job creation, vocational training and poverty reduction. 
In terms of supporting houses for poor households, according to reports of districts, towns, by September 27th, 4,121 houses were built and improved. 3,576 of them were completed, accounting for 86.8%.
In terms of administrative reform, Director of the Department of Home Affairs Tran Huy Sang said that the department proposed the city to synchronously promote the task in the coming time in an effort to increase Public Administration Reform Index.
