Reviewing five-year implementation of the agricultural restructuring project (19:07 30/09/2018)


HNP – The Ha Noi People’s Committee organized a conference on September 27th to review five years of implementing the project on agricultural restructuring in Ha Noi towards increasing added value and sustainable development. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam, Vice Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu.

During the five year implementation of the project, in spite of many difficulties and challenges, the city’s agricultural sector posted the high growth rate. Particularly, total value of agro, forestry, and fishery production in 2017 reached VND 35,133 billion, up 13.08% compared to 2013; the added value of agriculture for the 2013-2017 period saw an average annual increase of 2.23%; the growth rate of agro, forestry and fishery production rose 3.35%; there were increases in all areas (cultivation up by 2.4%, livestock up by 4.0% and fishery up by 6.06%).
 
Additionally, the plant restructuring has been strengthened. The city established 154 high quality rice production areas with the scale of over 100 hectares in 86 agricultural cooperatives and 101 safe vegetable production areas of over 20 hectares. Similarly, the city set up 12 collective branch names, such as pomelo of Dang Phuong, Que Duong, Soc Son, Buddha figure fruits of Dac So, longan of Dai Thanh, Hoai Duc, banana of Co Bi, Van Nam).

In terms of livestock, Ha Noi has boosted the expansion and improved the quality of production. So far, the city has developed 15 concentrated livestock areas with large scale, 76 key farming communes and 3,941 large-scale farms outside residential areas.

 

In terms of fisheries, in the period of 2013-2017, Ha Noi converted 4,200 hectares into aquaculture and ecotourism development. So far, 56 concentrated aquaculture areas have been established in districts of Ung Hoa, Phu Xuyen, Thanh Oai, My Duc, Ba Vi, Chuong My, Thanh Tri, and Thuong Tin.

 

In hi-tech agriculture alone, the city recorded 123 models in localities, Me Linh, Gia Lam, Thuong Tin, Thanh Oai, Phuc Tho, Dong Anh, and Dan Phuong.

 

At the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu noted that over the past five years, Ha Noi’s agriculture has posted rapid growth. Rural areas have had many positive changes and farmers’ living standards have been improved remarkably.

 

He asked units to positively implement the agricultural restructuring project and annexing agencies in accordance with policies, regulations of the city and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

To continue making greater gains in agricultural restructuring, units should strengthen the application of science and technology in agricultural production, he added. 
 
Besides, the Permanent Vice Chairman urged to open training courses on farming skills and scientific advance application for farmers to develop their production. 
 
He pledged that the city will positively invest more in irrigation works to ensure safety for farmers and their production; focus on carrying out new style rural areas according master plan and sustainable development. 
 
He also expected the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to boost the cooperation with Ha Noi in better implementing agricultural restructuring.
