According to a report of the Health Department, after one year of implementing Plan No. 119/KH-UBND, the food safety work has drawn the attention and drastic direction of the Party organizations and authorities at all levels. Agencies have enhanced the cooperation in managing food safety throughout the city. Especially, the cooperation mechanism among Departments of Health, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development has been boosted over the past time.
Additionally, the inspection work has been paid special attention. Particularly, the Department of Health checked 961 facilities producing, processing, and trading foods; detected 162 violation cases. Similarly, the Department of Industry and Trade inspected 43 enterprises and fined 11 cases with the total amount of over VND 54 million. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also checked 441 facilities producing, trading agro, forestry and fishery products; handled 120 violations, etc.
Besides, the popularization on food safety has been strengthened. Departments proactively cooperated with press agencies to boost communication on publications. Especially, the Department of Information and Communications took prime responsibility and coordinated with relevant departments, sectors to launch communication campaigns in the city.
At the conference, participants discussed concerned issues, such as traceability of foods, food safety inspection plans, role of local authorities in inspecting facilities with catering services, canteens, etc.
At the conference, the Steering Committee for Food Safety launched a rapid alert system for food in the period of 2018-2020. The system aims to settle food safety incidents, contributing to improving the efficiency of the food safety task and protecting people’s health.
